Privacy
Your captures stay yours.
Smara is designed for one person, with inspectable captures and a clear path to deletion.
What Smara captures
When you save something, Smara stores the capture package provided by the iPhone app, including the original content and source details the app actually received. Smara does not invent source metadata.
Where processing happens
Capture packages are stored in Cloudflare R2. Capture text can be sent to an OpenAI model to extract content, build connections, and answer questions from your saved material. Processing is not limited to the iPhone.
Model data use
Smara sends capture text to the OpenAI API for product functionality. The API data is not used to train OpenAI models under OpenAI’s API data policies.
What we retain
We retain captures so Smara can show them, connect them, and answer questions later.
Waitlist
Joining the waitlist stores your email address and the date you joined, and nothing else. We use it only to email you when Smara opens up, and we do not sell it. Addresses are deleted after 12 months. To be removed sooner, email work.neog@gmail.com.
How to delete data
Use the delete controls in the app for captures. To ask us to delete waitlist information or other data associated with your account, email work.neog@gmail.com. We will use the address you contact us from to locate and handle the request.
